Eliminating the negative impact of Invasive Alien Species on Bird Populations
The activity includes all needed cooperation with interested groups of hunters and experts, includinf police specialist with aim to establish local eradication teams for implementation of introduced eradication programe. We will ensure following actions and objectives:
Trained participants
- Trained 300 hunters, fishermen, nature protection experts, mappers at 13 trainings
- Trained 120 environmental crime police specialists at 7 trainings
- 20 trainings for stakeholders carried out
Introduced eradication in project areas
- Established 13 local teams for implementing eradication programme in project areas
- Eradicated populations of IAS from project SPAs (estimated population of all 4 project IAS is 1,565 – 2,170 individuals). Project will ensure 95 % eradication and prevent the re-infestation of project areas.
- Eradicated IAS in area of 17,200 ha within project SPAs
Saved native bird populations and wetland habitats
- 1,010 ha of saved wetland habitats with macrophyte vegetation before degradation by invasive Coypu
- 1,283 – 2,341 pairs of target bird species saved from negative impact of the invasive American mink, Raccoon, Raccoon Dog; together 9,267 – 14,617 breeding pairs secured including non-target species
